Event Liability Insurance & Alcohol Service Requirements

  • Do I need to purchase event liability insurance to rent The Flo Event Center?

Yes. All renters are required to carry a Special Event Liability Insurance policy with a minimum of $1,000,000 in coverage. The policy must list The Flo Event Center as an Additional Insured.

This protects both you and the venue in case of accidental injury, property damage, or other unforeseen incidents during your event.

  • Where can I get event liability insurance?

Event liability insurance is easy to obtain and typically costs $75–$150. You may use any reputable provider.

    Popular options include:

    • EventHelper.com
    • WedSafe
    • K&K Event Insurance
    • Hiscox Special Event Insurance
    • Your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance company (many offer one-day event coverage)

Once purchased, please email your Certificate of Insurance to us no later than 7 days before your event.

  • Why is this insurance required?

Event insurance protects you financially if something unexpected happens. It also protects our venue and allows us to continue offering affordable rental rates and a safe space for all guests.

  • Does my bartender’s insurance count as my event liability insurance?

    No.

Bartender/liquor liability insurance and event liability insurance are two different policies:

    • Event Liability Insurance → You (the client) must purchase this.
    • Liquor Liability Insurance → Your bartender or bartending company must carry this.

Both are required when alcohol is served.

  • What are the alcohol service requirements?

If alcohol is served at your event, you must use a bartender who provides:

    • Liquor Liability Insurance
    • Valid alcohol-service certification (TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol, or similar)
    • Proof of business or professional service if using a bartending company

Your bartender’s liquor liability insurance covers alcohol-related incidents.

Your event liability insurance covers general event-related risks.

  • Can I use a family member or friend as my bartender?

For liability reasons, all bartenders must be insured, certified, and approved by The Flo Event Center.

If your friend or family member does not carry Liquor Liability Insurance, they cannot serve alcohol on our premises.

  • When do I need to submit proof of insurance?

Both the client’s Event Liability Insurance certificate and the bartender’s Liquor Liability Insurance certificate must be submitted via email to info@thefloeventcenter.com no later than 7 days prior to the event.
